Melville premier women have recorded the rare feat of having four different 15-year-olds account for six goals in a northern league championship match in beating beat Onehunga Mangere 7-0 at home on Sunday.
Fifteen-year-olds Tyla Webster (2), Freya Douglas and subs Lola Williams (2) and Mia Humphrey all found the back of the net, while the seventh goal was scored by a relative veteran in the Melville squad, 18-year-old Stevie-Lee Tiller.
In goal, another 15-year-old, Emma Meadows kept her first clean sheet of the season.
Melville now lead Onehunga Sports on goal difference at the top of the table after three rounds of the northern league women's championship.
Many of Melville's goals were of sublime quality as they recorded their biggest home win at northern league level and now lead the competition by a differential of +5.
Webster began the rout with a 10th minute strike, in which she first-time caressed the ball home and into the far corner from about 12m, to the left of goal.
Douglas, (daughter of Melville 2003 men's skipper Gavin Douglas), doubled the lead six minutes later attacking from the other side of goal, also finding the corner of the net, and Melville took a 2-0 lead into the break.
The substitutes came to the party in the second half with Williams (daughter of former Melville great Matt Williams) adding goals in the 58th and 61st minute. With the first of these Williams skinned the defence up the middle and went around the keeper, while for the second she finished a move in which Laura Bennett broke through down the right.
Humphrey got on the scoresheet in the 67th minute, while Tiller smashed home a long-range shot and Webster completed the scoring with her second in the 89th minute.
There was a surreal finish to the match with Onehunga-Mangere having just eight players on the pitch for the final few minutes. They had injured players and had used all their subs, while one player was not allowed to return after an injury break because she was wearing an ear ring.
Next up Melville are at home to bottom-placed Central United at 11am on Good Friday - but will have a number of their players returning from a whole week of national U16 camp.
